A Global Warming Reprieve?

Phys.org has reported on the significant global warming implications of a climate physics paper.  There has been some heavy peer review verification of validity of this paper indicating that “official” climate models are over estimating the rate of global warming.  It can be taken as some comfort that things will not be as bad as expected.  However, we still can’t ignore global warming warnings and run an experiment with the extinction of humanity as one of the possible outcomes if wrong.

Global Warming Model Error

Another cause for climate change optimism is the coming rapid and disruptive switch from fossil fuels to solar energy and electric vehicles driven by pure economics will reduce global warming greenhouse gasses far faster than expected.  People tend to project change in a linear fashion when it is most often exponential.  Perhaps Saudi Arabia’s dropping its policy of controlling oil supply is not an attempt to clear higher cost producers from the market but, a realisation that it is time to sell oil reserves for something rather than risking having to leave them in the ground after demand collapses.
